A new controversy brought up recently is YouTubes new feature allowing parents to block their kids from certain videos on their website. These new control measures apply to only the browser they are set on and can block any video a parent sees as inappropriate. Some might say that these sew rules are simply the beginning of people trying to control the internet. Eventually this could result in control measures being placed on other websites leading to restrictions on what is put on the web.
Another issue in terms of these new control measures it that they don’t prevent kids from putting up videos. There are many youn kids who make videos of themselves dancing around, or acting something out and their parents may never know. The reason this can be concerning is others are able to comment on videos which can lead to cyber bullying. Once something is on the interntet it is there for good, and often parents of young children put videos of them on the web such as the popular video Charlie bit my finger. Is it appropriate to put even an innocent video of a young child on the internet? they have no control over it and when they are older the chances are it will soon be there. Although they are usually adorable and hilarious are they appropriate?
